We believe God calls us to take responsibility for the stewardship of our environment. This project offers members in our congregation the opportunity to help in an environmental cleanup project in our community.
OPC has "adopted" a portion of Illinois Route 25 starting at its intersection with Route 34 and going north about two miles (by the church).
Four times per year (in February, May, August and November) volunteers pick up litter to keep the roadsides clean for this stretch of Route 25. We pick up trash, get to know each other and may even find something interesting. This is a good "community service" activity for adults and youth (e.g. confirmands) as individuals or as groups (e.g. Scout troop).
